Goodbye, Farewell, Amen

What’s Going On at St John’s?

Dear Family and Friends of St. John’s on the Lake,

On June 20th, Kipp Nelson will begin serving St. John’s UMC on Miami Beach as campus pastor in the newly formed Missional Network with First UMC of Miami. Kipp is a graduate of Auburn University and Wesley Theological Seminary and he is currently the Minister of Outreach and Evangelism at First UMC of Miami. He brings experience in urban ministry and a heart for the wider community of Downtown Miami and Miami Beach. His gifts in preaching, teaching, and justice ministries will further strengthen the United Methodist presence on Miami Beach, as well as the outreach and service opportunities of St. John’s congregation.  Many of you already know Kipp, as he has attended events here with us and has marched in two of the Pride Parades with us all.

I wish to tell you how bitter-sweet these types of changes are for pastors, as well as laity.  The saying of “so long for now” is one that pastors in our system agree to keep for at least one year after moving, so that the next pastor has an opportunity to set new systems in place and bond with you as your pastor.  Yet, no one is forgotten or unloved!  My family thanks you for your part in our lives and in serving with us these last four years and hopes you will be there to see us off on June 6th

May God bless you, your families, and St. John’s in more ways than I may ever imagine!!!!

With the love and spirit of Christ within us,

Pastor Dawn Worden
