New things often put a little pep in my step. Whether it is a new outfit, a new pair of shoes, a new haircut, a new phone case, or even a new plant for my house, new things have a way of lifting my spirits. They don’t have to be big and grand things, but even the smallest changes can make me feel like a new person.

This week, we come upon Revelation 21:1-7 which tells about the newness that God is bringing to earth. Folks often think about faith as the assurance of where we go when we pass away, but my understanding of faith is where we are headed in this life. Revelation 21 tells us that God’s home will be fully among mortals and all things will be made new.

Think about that. All things on earth are being made new and perfected in God’s unconditional love.

This is central to the Christian faith. We believe that God is constantly at work within the body of Christ to make the world a fuller version of God’s love. We are working towards this image of a new heaven on earth.

I don’t know about you, but ALL THINGS NEW is something to have hope in. It gives me strength for today and hope for tomorrow. Even while we see the painful and hard things in the world, we can have trust that God is indeed at work making all things new in and through us, the body of Christ.

Wherever you are and whatever you are going through, might this reminder give you faith to persevere. Know that God is still at work making YOU new.

Let us come together in worship this Sunday at 11am online or in person! Let’s celebrate our God who is making us new together!

Peace and blessings,

Pastor Kipp
